Andre Van Duin

Andre Van Duin

Andr van Duin real name: Adrianus Marinus Kyvon, 20 februari 1947 is a Dutch comedian and singer. After scoring his first hit in 1972, Andr became a regular in the Dutch singles charts for the next thirty years. In early 1976 Van Duin held the number one spot for the first time in his career, with the humorous song "Willempie". The song caused controversy, as it was accused of insulting the mentally retarded. Also, it kicked Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" of the top spot of the Dutch Top 40. Show more »

In 1980 Van Duin scored big time with the anthemic soccer song "Nederland, Die Heeft De Bal", still a stadion favourite of the Dutch supporters. During the summer of 1982 Andr had a number one hit again, this time with the double A-sided single "Als Je Huilt" original: "Oh Baby Mine I Get So Lonely" "Bim Bam" original: "Les Trois Clocks". Van Duin's parody of Holland's then prime minister Ruud Lubbers resulted in the 1989 hit "De Groeten Van Ruud", another double A-sided single with "Mijn Naam Is Jaap" original: "Meine Name Ist Hase".

Andr keeps releasing successful singles althrough the 1990s, but only reaches pole position one more time in 1993, with "Het Pizza Lied Effe Wachten...". Van Duin's last Dutch top 10 hit is "Ayohee Zo, Ken 'Ie Wel Weer", in early 1998. After recording a 'serious' and personal album in 1999, only a few singles were released, but none of them achieved notable chart success.
