 Ashlee Nicole Simpson born October 3, 1984 is an American pop singer and occasional actress. She is the younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Show more » Simpson rose to fame in mid-2004 through the success of her 1 debut album Autobiography and the accompanying reality series The Ashlee Simpson Show. Simpson received widespread derision when she used a pre-recorded vocal track for a performance on Saturday Night Live in October 2004. Simpson said she needed a backing track because she was suffering from acid reflux. This statement was repeated in second season of her MTV television show. After the incident she has got a lot of criticism on her stage performance because of very bad vocals. Following a North American concert tour and an unsuccessful film appearance, Simpson released a second number-one album, I Am Me, in late 2005. In late 2006, Ashlee played Roxie Hart in a stage production of the musical 'Chicago' in London. She received critical acclaim for her role. She is currently working on her third album.
