 Delta Lea Goodrem born in Sydney on November 9, 1984 is an Australian singersongwriter, musician and actress. She was launched into popularity starring as Nina Tucker on the popular television soap opera Neighbours. She's released two number one albums, Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity, enjoying the second most weeks of an Australian album in the number one position in Australia and has had seven number one singles in Australia. Her third album is due out in 2007. A renowned songwriter, Delta was invited to sing and write the theme song of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. The song is called "Together We Are One" and it was co-written with her beau Brian McFadden and long-time collaborator Guy Chambers. "Together We Are One" wasn't a planned release for a single but due to the Australian public "crying out" for it, it was rushed into shops as a cd single and was No. 1 for several weeks. Signed to Sony at the age of 15, Goodrem rose to prominence in 2002, starring in the popular Australian soap Neighbours, and this assisted her in establishing an international music career.1 Her musical output falls under the pop and ballad genres and heavily features the piano, which she usually plays in her bare feet when performing live. Goodrem has to date, achieved seven number one ARIA singles and multiple UK Top 10 singles. Her debut album, 2003's Innocent Eyes, made her one of Australia's highest selling female recording artists, spending 29 weeks at 12, selling over a million copies in Australia and 2.5 million worldwide.3 Its successor, 2004's Mistaken Identity, whilst unable to match the commercial success of its predecessor; entered the ARIA charts at 1 and gained multi-platinum status. To date, she has sold 3.5 million albums worldwide.4 In 2005, Goodrem embarked on The Visualise Tour, her debut concert tour of Australia. In 2003, at the age of 18, amidst her blooming career, Goodrem was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of cancer. She has since made a full recovery and now spends much of her time promoting cancer charities. 2007present: Forthcoming third album Goodrem is currently producing material for her third studio album, which is due for release later this year or early 2008. Goodrem has described the material as "...a lot lighter", compared to her previous album Mistaken Identity.35 In January she stated, "As people become more aware of your life, they can pinpoint what songs are about.
