Dr Dre

Dre became famous as a member of iconic gangsta rap group N.W.A. When N.W.A.'s lyrical genius, Ice Cube left the group, Dr. Dre himself stepped up to show the world that he was more than just a producer. After N.W.A disbanded, Dr. Dre was not only a co-founder but also one of the first artists to sign to the infamous Death Row Records which also featured 2Pac and Snoop Dogg. Death Row hit an all time low when executive Suge Knight was sentenced to prison time after a court case. Dr. Dre, continuing his success as a best-selling solo rapper, and most famously, the founder of record label Aftermath Entertainment. He is notable for having launched the careers of rap superstars Snoop Dogg and Eminem, and is widely regarded as one of hip hop's greatest producers. The artists on his sizable Aftermath roster today include multi-platinum artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and more recently Busta Rhymes. The Game was hand picked by Dr. Dre to be the "next in line" to the Aftermath "dynasty," but in early 2006, The Game was dropped from the label due to his feud with Aftermath artist 50 Cent, but remains in good favor with Dre.

Dr. Dre has made only two albums in his solo career, The Chronic Released in 1992 and 2001 Released in 1999. A third album called Detox is due to be released in September 2007.
