Gwen Stefani

Gwen Rene Stefani Rossdale born October 3, 1969 is an American 80'srock singer, songwriter, fashion designer, and frontwoman of the punkskarock band No Doubt. Show more »

One of her first breaks came when she performed a duet with Sublime. She said she fell in love with Bradley Nowell the first time she heard his voice, but was shocked he was white.

Stefani first experienced mainstream success with the release of 1995's Tragic Kingdom, which spawned hits such as Just a Girl, Spiderwebs, and Don't Speak. Follow-up albums did not match the sales of Tragic Kingdom, but were successful on different levels of popularity and genre.

In 2004, Gwen Stefani wrote and recorded her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby., for which she consulted producers The Neptunes, singer-songwriter Linda Perry and OutKast member Andre 3000 also credited as Johnny Vulture, among others. The album contained rock music and electronica music tracks, including 80s and rock ballad-influences. The third single Hollaback Girl was a very successful international single, and became the first U.S. digital single to exceed sales of one million.

Gwen also created a fashion brand which shares the name of her solo album, L.A.M.B. Products include all sorts of apparel, shoes, and a newer line called Harajuku Lovers.

She gave birth to her first child on May 26, 2006, a baby boy named Kingston James McGregor Rossdale. The father is husband Gavin Rossdale, front man in the now-defunct bands Bush and Institute, whom she married September 14, 2002.

Stefani released her second solo album, The Sweet Escape on December 5, 2006. She worked Keane and producers Pharrell and fellow No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal, as well as Akon. Although it had been speculated that the album would contain only songs originally written for L.A.M.B. that did not make the final track listing, the only two songs leftover from L.A.M.B. featured on the record are "U Started It" and "Wonderful Life"The album was influenced by pop, glam rock, electronica and indie styles of music.
