 Het Goede Doel was a successful Dutch pop band from the 1980s. The core of the band was formed by composer Henk Temming, lyricist Henk Westbroek and producer Sander van Herk. Both Temming and Westbroek did the vocal duties. In 1982, during the height of the Doe Maar hype in Holland, the popularity of Het Goede Doel also rose to stellar heights due to the hit album "Belgi". This album features, amongst others, the Dutch top 10 hits "Belgi Is Er Leven Op Pluto" and "Vriendschap". Later that same year Henk & Henk issue a double A-sided Christmas single. An English version of "Belgi" is recorded now entitled "Luxembourgh", but Het Goede Doel only keeps scoring hits in the Dutch charts with songs like "Gijzelaar" and "Ik Dans Dus Ik Besta". At that point, it seems Het Goede Doel is well past its commercial peak, until the release of the 1989 duet album "Speciale Aanbieding". The song "Alles Kan Een Mens Gelukkig Maken" became a single and ended up at the top position of the Dutch Top 40. But the end is near for Het Goede Doel and the band splits in 1991. Het spil van de band bestond uit componist Henk Temming, tekstschrijver Henk Westbroek en producer Sander van Herk. De beiden Henken namen wisselend de zang voor hun rekening. In 1982, tijdens het hoogtepunt van de Doe Maar-hype, steeg ook de populariteit van Het Goede Doel naar ongekende hoogte dankzij het hitalbum "Belgi". Op dit album staan onder andere de top 10-hits "Belgi Is Er Leven Op Pluto?" en "Vriendschap". Later dat jaar verschijnt er onder de naam Henk & Henk een sinterklaas-kerstsingle. Op de ene kant van de single staat "Sinterklaas, Wie Kent Hem Niet" en op de andere kant het ietwat minder bekende "Het Hoort Met Kerstmis Ook Te Sneeuwen". Een Engelstalige versie van "Belgi" wordt opgenomen als "Luxembourgh", maar Het Goede Doel blijft enkel in Nederland hits scoren, waaronder "Gijzelaar" en "Ik Dans Dus Ik Besta". Op dat moment lijkt Het Goede Doel over zijn commercile hoogtepunt heen, totdat in 1989 het duetalbum "Speciale Aanbieding" verschijnt. Het nummer "Alles Kan Een Mens Gelukkig Maken", met zang van Ren Froger, wordt als single uitgebracht en komt op de eerste plaats van de Top 40 terecht. Daarna lijkt het echt afgelopen met Het Goede Doel. In 1991 houdt de band het voor gezien. Temming en Westbroek maken ieder soloalbums met matig succes. Temming is op televisie te zien in de hoedanigheid van Hulpsinterklaas en hij zingt de titelsong van het SBS6-programma "Over De Rooie". Daarnaast produceert hij, met Sander van Herk, onder andere De Kast. Westbroek scoort bescheiden hits met "Waar Ze Loopt Te Wandelen" en "Loods Me Door De Storm", totdat hij in 1998 op de proppen komt met de ballade "Zelfs Je Naam Is Mooi", dat een recordaantal weken in de Top 40 blijft staan. In 2001 komt Het Goede Doel nog eenmaal bij elkaar. Er volgen een paar optredens, een verzamelalbum en een laatste single; "Alle Mensen Op De Aarde".
