 Keane are a britpoppiano rock band from the small town of Battle near Hastings in East Sussex, United Kingdom. Tom Chaplin vocals, Tim Rice-Oxley piano, keyboards, backing vocals, and bass, and Richard Hughes drums, backing vocals at live shows met as young kids and went to school together. They originally formed back in 1997 as a four-piece guitar band. Not long after their guitarist Dominic Scott left, the trio resorted to the current line-up and released two singles on the Fierce Panda label. "Everybody's Changing" in particular caught the eye of many record companies. Their debut album on Island Records, "Hopes And Fears", the famous and guitar-free track consortium, was a huge success in the United Kingdom, landing the number one chart spot upon its release. The band is recognized world wide for the prominence of pianos in their music, especially their copious use of the distorted piano. Show more » This band released their second album "Under the Iron Sea" in June 2006, which hit the UK by storm - much like Hopes and Fears - going straight to number one on the album chart upon its release. In The Netherlands and Ireland it reached the first position in the album charts too.
